Doniphan County court action postponed
by Ray Scherer
Wednesday, July 2, 2008

TROY, Kan. — Activity in two pending Doniphan County court cases has been postponed until later in the year.

A sentencing hearing for Robert D. Cluck of Troy was earlier scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. The hearing has been moved to Aug. 15.

A jury found Mr. Cluck guilty May 28 of involuntary manslaughter in the traffic deaths of three Macon County, Mo, men last August. The wreck occurred on U.S. Highway 36 between Wathena and Troy.

Meanwhile, a jury trial set next week for a Troy woman accused in the death of her infant son has been rescheduled.

Tamara Sue Kostman is charged with the first-degree murder of Dillon Kostman Trant, whose body was found in an apartment on the west side of Troy in June 2007.

Doniphan County Attorney Charles Baskins — who is receiving assistance from the Kansas Attorney General’s office — said the delay was requested by Ms. Kostman’s attorney, John Kurth of Atchison.

Ms. Kostman’s five-day trial is now set to begin Oct. 13, according to Doniphan County District Court records.
