Tornado reported in Holt County; hail hits Chillicothe
Strong storms passed through Northwest Missouri Wednesday night, including a tornado that touched down in Holt County.
The Holt County Sheriff’s Department confirmed a tornado touched down at 8:25 p.m. The Holt County dispatcher said the department didn’t receive any reports of damage to structures. The storm did knock down some trees and power lines.
Power lines also were knocked down in Clinton County near Gower, Mo., a Clinton County Sheriff’s Department official reported late Wednesday.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department reported quarter-sized hail that damaged some vehicles. The Chillicothe Police Department reported marble-sized hail.
The city of St. Joseph was under a tornado warning for a short period.
St. Joseph emergency officials witnessed rotation in the clouds nearing St. Joseph and a wall cloud. No serious damage was reported.
