A Sabetha, Kan., woman was killed Sunday morning in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 36.

Brown County Sheriff John Merchant said Ashlee Reeves, 23, was eastbound in a car while the other driver, Richard Smith of Denison, Kan., was westbound in a van. The accident was reported around 2:45 a.m. near the intersection of Foxtail Road, about five miles west of Hiawatha.

Ms. Reeves was pronounced dead at the scene, Mr. Merchant said. Mr. Smith was transported to Hiawatha Community Hospital, where he was treated and released.
