The Shatto Milk Co. will hold its fifth annual Easter Egg Hunt Sunday afternoon at the company’s headquarters near Osborn, Mo.
The hunt will begin at 2:30 p.m. There is no charge, but participants are urged to arrive 20 minutes before the event for registration and lineup.
Last year’s hunt drew more than 400 children of all ages. There will be three areas divided by age: 4 years old and younger, 5 to 7 years old, and 8 and older. Prizes will be awarded to those lucky enough to find special eggs.
Refreshments will be available for purchase. Peter the Easter Rabbit will be present, and families may bring cameras. The hunt will be held rain or shine.
To reach the Shatto Milk Co., which is about 30 miles from St. Joseph, take U.S. Highway 36 east toward Cameron. Turn south (right) onto Missouri Highway 33, just before the Osborn junction at Missouri Route M. Continue on Highway 33 south for four miles. The farm is located on the left side of the highway.

Sheriff offers award
The Livingston County sheriff’s office is offering the second annual Outstanding Student/Citizenship Award to eligible high school students in the county.
Cruz Chavez, who was a senior in the Southwest Livingston County School District, received the first honor in 2008. Two awards will be offered this year, consisting of $1,000 U.S. “EE Series” savings bonds.
Nominations must be submitted to Sheriff Steve Cox, 901 Webster St., Chillicothe, MO 64601, no later than April 30. The awards will be given in May.

Morel mushroom
hunting
Spring mushroom hunting season began Friday at the Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge and will end May 20.
No permits are required to enter designated areas for morel mushroom hunting. Any trespassing violations will be subject to citations and penalties.
Mushroom hunting is permitted only on the east side of U.S. Highway 159, in the Loess Bluffs within refuge boundaries. Call the refuge at (660) 442-3187 for more information.
