BETHANY, Mo. - A dog running across a highway Sunday led to a one-vehicle accident on Missouri Highway 13 about five miles south of Bethany, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
A helicopter flew an injured Renee McLain, 17, to St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City after she was treated Sunday at the Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany. The patrol listed Ms. McLain, a passenger, in serious condition, and St. Luke's had no update Monday.
The patrol stated that the accident happened at 10:35 p.m. Sunday as Brittany York, 17, drove a 1993 Pontiac north on Highway 13 and swerved to miss a dog. The Pontiac crossed the center line and Ms. York over-corrected, the patrol said.
