by St. Joseph News-Press
Monday, August 10, 2009

Weather permitting, the Missouri Department of Transportation will work with construction companies and maintenance employees this week on a number of roads in Northwest Missouri. Some routes will be closed to traffic and some will have the number of lanes reduced. Motorists are reminded to reduce their speeds and drive with caution through work zones. Numerous state routes in the area also are being patched, asphalted, oiled or receiving culvert replacements in addition to the roads listed below:

St. Joseph — Pickett Road remains closed for replacement of an Interstate 29 overpass until later this month.

Bridge work continues on the U.S. Highway 169 North overpass above Interstate 29. The overpass decks are being replaced, and there is a marked detour.

Maintenance crews will perform two days of shoulder work on Interstate 229 at the northbound four-mile marker. The northbound driving lane will be closed from 8 a.m. today until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Gower — Crews will be working this week on the shoulders of Missouri Highway 116 beginning at Missouri Highway 169, about two miles south of Gower, to Missouri Route E in Buchanan County.

Crews will be working this week on the shoulders of Missouri Highway 169 from Gower to Trimble.

Lathrop — Crews will perform an emergency bridge deck repair beginning today on Interstate 35 at the 37-mile marker, south of Lathrop. The northbound and southbound lanes will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. today until 5 p.m. Wednesday. No traffic delays are expected.

Osborn — Herzog Contracting Corp. is resurfacing the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 36 starting at Osborn and running west to four miles west of Stewartsville. This project is expected to be completed by Sept. 3.

Weatherby — Maintenance crews plan a culvert replacement starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday on Missouri Highway 6 between Cook Road and Big Lost Creek Bridge, west of Weatherby. The highway will remain closed until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
