by St. Joseph News-Press
Monday, August 17, 2009

Weather permitting, the Missouri Department of Transportation will work with construction companies and maintenance employees this week on a number of roads in Northwest Missouri.

Some routes will be closed to traffic, and some will have the number of lanes reduced. Motorists are reminded to reduce their speeds and drive with caution through work zones. Numerous state routes in the area also are being patched, asphalted, oiled or receiving culvert replacements, in addition to the roads listed below:

St. Joseph — Pickett Road remains closed for replacement of the Interstate 29 overpass until Wednesday. Bridge work continues on the U.S. Highway 169 North overpass above Interstate 29. The overpass decks are being replaced, and there is a marked detour. Beginning Tuesday through Thursday, Missouri Highway 752 and Alabama Street will be narrowed to one lane. Area crews will be doing road maintenance from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The route will be narrowed to one lane all three days, from 14th Street west to Missouri Highway 759, the Stockyards Expressway.

Osborn — Herzog Contracting Corp. is resurfacing the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 36, starting at Osborn and running west to four miles west of Stewartsville. This project is expected to be completed by Sept. 3.

Eagleville — Beginning Tuesday, the southbound driving lane of Interstate 35 will be resurfaced between the 100 and the 105 mile markers, south of Eagleville. The contractor, Chester Bross Construction, will be working from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for three days.

Bethany — Beginning Thursday, a contractor will be working on the Interstate 35 bridge approaches at the Pole Cat Creek Bridge, south of Bethany. The contractor, Chester Bross Construction, expects to take two days to complete the work between mile markers 89 and 90.
