Saturday, August 22, 2009

The city of Pattonsburg, Mo., will host a Fundamentals of Economic Development Workshop Sept. 22.

Christopher Chung, chief executive officer of the Missouri Partnership, is tentatively scheduled to be a guest speaker. Part of his address will be devoted to the recruitment of wind energy product manufacturers and associated industries.

Workshop topics will include developing a strong community, financing and growing new businesses. The workshop is intended to give the nonprofessional a basic understanding of economic development strategies and tools. It is designed for city, county, and state elected officials; local economic developers; and volunteers.

A location for the workshop has yet to be determined, said Pattonsburg economic development director/coordinator Richard W. Mooney. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

The registration deadline is Sept. 17. For fees and other information, contact Mr. Mooney weekdays at (660) 367-2355, by cell phone at (660) 605-1582 or by e-mail at cityofpattonsburg_ded@yahoo.com.
