Three Stewartsville, Mo., teenagers were injured in a one-vehicle accident early Saturday.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, at about 6:10 a.m. Cody Wilcox, 15, was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram westbound on U.S. Route 36, two miles west of Osborn, Mo. The truck ran partially off of the road twice before Mr. Wilcox overcorrected and slid off of the south side of the roadway into the median.
The vehicle overturned twice before coming to rest on its top on the median.
The vehicle’s three occupants, Kyle Stone, 17; James Claycomb, 17; and Mr. Wilcox, were transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A nursing supervisor for the hospital said they were each treated and released. According to the report, none of them were wearing safety belts.
"According to the report, none of them were wearing safety belts." Seems to be a difficult concept to understand in this part of the country. It is reported over and over.
