Woman hospitalized following accident

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

A Maysville, Mo., couple was involved in a two-vehicle injury accident during Wednesday morning’s brief snow shower.

Emergency medical personnel transported Twili Halter to Heartland Regional Medical Center for what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. No report on her condition was available from the hospital.

The accident happened at 9:54 a.m. on 36th Street just south of the intersection with Messanie Street, closing both southbound lanes for about an hour.

John E. Halter, 67, drove a gray Lincoln Town Car north on 36th Street with his wife, Mrs. Halter, riding in the front passenger seat, said Henry Pena, the investigating officer for the St. Joseph Police Department. Mr. Halter attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot, Mr. Pena said.

The Lincoln and a Chrysler Aspen sport utility vehicle driven by Laura Dalakishvili, 28, collided. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. A citation for an alleged improper turn was issued to Mr. Halter.
