Accident backs up traffic
by St. Joseph News-Press
Friday, February 27, 2009

An accident at the Belt Highway and Faraon Street tied up traffic for about 45 minutes Thursday afternoon.

Police Officer Keith Dudley said Sally Young, 68, of St. Joseph, was traveling west on Faraon Street when her Nissan Sentra collided with a Kia Spectra driven by Derrick West, 20, of Plattsburg, Mo. Mr. West was traveling east on Faraon and was turning north onto the Belt when the accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m.

Ms. Young was taken by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center, where she was treated for injuries and released.

Mr. Dudley said no citations were issued because both people claimed they had a green light. Mr. West received a summons for having an invalid insurance card.
