LATHROP, Mo. — A 22-year-old Holt, Mo., man was killed when the vehicle he was driving skidded off a Clinton County highway Sunday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Dane W. Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Kathleen Little.

The wreck happened at 8:22 a.m., on Missouri Highway 116, 2½ miles east of Lathrop.

Mr. Nelson was driving a 2000 Ford east on the highway when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went into a sideways skid and traveled off of the south side of the road, overturning several times. Mr. Nelson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.

The vehicle landed on its top on the eastbound shoulder, the patrol’s report said.

This was the second traffic fatality to be reported for the patrol’s Troop H region so far this year.
