Cancer money
If I was living in Cameron and I truly believed there was something there causing brain cancer, I would move out. I think it’s just a thing where they think they’ll get a lot of money. Well I, too, have had cancer and how many of us haven’t. And how much of that has been spread around St. Joe. Will everybody in St. Joe get settlements, too. And brain cancer isn’t the only kind of cancer there is. But to me they’re carrying on so because they’re wanting money out of it but they are staying. I know it might be hard to pull up stakes and sell, but between me and brain cancer, I would be packing.

Afghan heat
I am just calling to say the next time that anybody fusses about the heat in Missouri we need to think about the troops over in Afghanistan where my son is. I talked with him the other day and it was 126 there. And just think of the conditions they are under.

Secondhand electronics
This is to all you second-hand stores in the area or anywhere in the world. When you get electronic stuff in you need to double check it and triple check it. And if you don’t know how to do it, then I suggest you get somebody who knows how to do it. If it isn’t checked out really carefully you don’t charge $5 or $6 for the thing if it doesn’t work, because that will keep somebody from buying things in there again. The electronic stuff that you buy in secondhand stores — chances are it doesn’t work, otherwise it wouldn’t be in there. Now I’ve got a second complaint about this. This is to the people who donate this stuff: If it doesn’t work, don’t donate it. Throw it out.

Pot and kettle
Someone wrote the News-Press saying Gov. Mark Sanford is a libertarian conservative who believes your personal life is between you, your family, God and nobody else’s business. Sanford doesn’t believe that. He made it his business to declare that President Clinton’s personal life called for his impeachment. Sanford is simply another conservative who sees other people’s sins but not his own until he gets caught.

Pay attention
I’ve been kind of following this President Manuel Zelaya ousting in Honduras. It was my understanding that he was trying to rewrite the Constitution so he would not have to step down after two terms as president. I think we need to be careful who we support. I notice Obama is supporting him and a lot of the U.N. members are backing him. We want to watch when we support someone like this because someday we’re liable to have this in our own country where we have a president who refuses to give up his seat after his time is done. You want to watch who you support.
Afghan heat is only one of the burdens our fine young men face there. When you speak to him again please pass the thanks of the grateful others in St Joe. SALUTE!
Bad customer service
With the way the economy is you would think businesses would want you to spend money in their establishment.Recently I went into a nail salon to find out about getting a service there and the girl that ran up to the counter immediately got on her cell phone to text someone then answer a call. Whenever I opened my mouth she got the cell phone out to text. How rude is that? I will never go back to that place. I went elsewhere and got the service I wanted right away.
I've donated electronic items to second hand stores but it always worked and had the owner's manual with it. I cannot speak to what happened to it after I left.
SOMEDAY we're going to have a President who doesn't want to step down? We've got that now. Check out http://www.end22.com/ - a "grassroots" organization who is wanting to repeal the 22nd amendment. NY Representative Jose Serrano (D) has introduced a bill in the House to abolish the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution. And, with ACORN's involvement in the upcoming census, we may start to see fishy stuff happening with congressional districts that will allow this to happen.
We should be questioning why our president is siding with Castro & Chavez by backing Zelaya.
