by St. Joseph News-Press
Saturday, July 4, 2009

GOWER, Mo. — A 15-year-old boy from Stewartsville, Mo., died Friday following a motorcycle accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Tyler D. Wilson died shortly after noon at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

The accident occurred at 8 a.m. Friday on Missouri Route DD about three miles southwest of Gower.

The teen was driving a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle west on Route DD and met a 1994 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Bobby Holt, 54, nearly head-on in one of the many curves on the state road. Tyler Wilson was wearing a safety helmet when he was ejected from the motorcycle, which was reported to be totaled. An ambulance transported the teen to Heartland. Mr. Holt, from Agency, Mo. wasn’t reported to be injured.

This is the second fatality of the month for Troop H and the 15th in the troop’s Northwest Missouri region.

For 18 years, I have lived on the corner in which the accident happened. This is the third major accident. Our prayers and concern goes out to both Tyler's family and Bobby.
More signage needs to be added to this road to warn drivers of this dangerous curve!
