A Nodaway County man pleaded guilty Monday morning to the felony of conspiring to have his wife killed, according to court records.

Robert L. Dieker Jr., 33, Maryville, was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The prosecution had said Mr. Dieker perpetrated certain acts for the purpose of promoting or facilitating the murder of Christina Dieker, who was not harmed.

He was arrested in August of 2008, following a concentrated undercover investigation conducted by the Maryville Department of Public Safety.

Mr. Dieker had originally pleaded not guilty to the charge. The complaint filed against him said he delivered copies of a work schedule and provided a photograph and license number of the potential victim — along with other arrangements — in connection with completing the murder.

The Northwest Missouri Interagency Team Response Operation Task Force assisted in the investigation.

Nodaway County Circuit Judge Roger Prokes set Mr. Dieker’s sentencing for Aug. 24, after the completion of a sentence assessment report.
