Want fries
with that?
What is going on? This is a concerned citizen calling in about the light bill. First off, how do they expect people to pay it when our economy is so terrible? I know it’s only $8.50 extra a month. That’s eight double cheeseburgers. That’s for a starving family. How are they going to keep raising our bills on us like this? This is ridiculous.

Crossed line
My definition of crossing the line is parents saying rude and overbearing things to other students, coaches and teachers. Shame on those people.

Leave a quarter
This Obama administration is really taxing people, telling farmers what they can grow and what they can’t grow. When you use your bathroom, make sure there is not a slot in there where they’re going to tax you for using your own bathroom.

No left turn
Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show yesterday that the gunman that killed the guard at the Holocaust Museum is a product of the political left. That’s stupid. I thought Rush Limbaugh had some sense about him. How can you be a product of the left and hate everything the left stands for?

The big time
I’m another Downtown booster who is 60 years old who can remember the good times down there. The only thing I think they can do with Downtown now is make it the entertainment capital of the Midwest. They could bring in so many acts, good and great bands and local bands because they’ve got so much entertainment down there now. They can make antique shops like Weston, Mo. The revenue you could bring in is enormous.

Wipe out
I’m not against progress, but I would like to voice my opinion concerning the school board system and everything that is going on there with the finances. I see down by Central High School they have wiped out several houses in the area and they have constructed a new parking lot for the kids.

Can’t be done
There is no way to circumvent the Ten Commandments. I dare say, since Christianity became a major religion, there has probably been more killing done by Christians in the name of
Christianity than in any other cause. It sounds like someone is trying to circumvent something.

Your fault
To the person who wrote in about “New czar”: Congress does not belong to Obama. The people of this country voted their congressmen in. So it is your Congress.
hitler was from the left, and then the right, and then the left, and then the right, and then he was doin the cha cha......
Rush Limbaugh is a disgusting human being who continues to spout his racist, brainless, hate-filled nonsense with no regard for reality. On Thursday he tried to convince his listeners that the von Brunn, the alleged Holocaust shooter, was a leftist when the man's own writings tell a different story. We know von Brunn's influences because he had them listed on his website. (His website, by the way has vanished, or I'd link to it. As a result I'm going to quote his website by quoting a post of mine on another website utilizing information that I took directly from von Brunn's site.) He sited a book called "The Iron Curtain over America" by John O'Beaty and said that the book was given to him in 1964 by General Pedro Del Valle, a Republican. Later, according to von Brunn, “General Del Valle recommended that I‘d be given a position with Noontide Press. Noontide publishes right-wing books. Willis Carto was its founder." Willis Carto, a right-wing Holocaust denier, whose Liberty Lobby hosted speakers such as Phil Slatley, a Republican. From his own Web site, he praised the right, not the left, saying, “Right-wing websites illuminate the problems that Aryans face. Each day new alarms are sounded, adding more fuel to the raging fire." He went on to say, "The right-wing does nothing but talk," and advocate increased violence.
Furthermore, “Talking Points Memo” reports that Von Brunn switched his Web site domain on June first to a man who shares a phone number with a woman who was listed as a Michigan coordinator for former presidential candidate Ron Paul, who is (at least nominally) a Republican. Von Brunn himself posted on the Republican Web site, Free Republic, spouting the right-wing claim that Obama‘s birth certificate was forged, defending President Bush against Dan Rather, and claiming the media had tried to destroy Sarah Palin.
So much for that claim, not that I've actually heard anybody anywhere agreeing with Limbaugh this time. To last Saturday's caller: so much for him listening to both sides of the story, huh?
Oh, and here's a tasty tidbit: yesterday Limbaugh attempted to tell the world that it is in fact the people who exercise and try to keep themselves healthy who are to blame for the health care system being overloaded, not fat old guys like himself. It scares me that anybody listens to him--even for entertainment--and it scares me even more that some people believe a single word that comes out of his mouth.
Thank goodness for Limbaugh, Hannity, Fox News, etc. My suggestion to people who can't handle fair and balanced news, in other words, "the truth", please listen/watch channels/stations that don't provide such.
HannahBelle, give me one example of "the truth" according to Limbaugh or Hannity, and I'll shoot it full of holes big enough to drive a truck through. Rather than trying to debate, responding to my examples about Limbaugh's comments, I get thumbs down and blind insistence that FOX news tells "the truth." Which of Limbaugh's statements were true?
Look, I'm not saying that I think the news we get from any source is "the truth." Every station, every story, has its spin. However, if I walked into a room and I heard a stranger saying things that I've heard Limbaugh and people on FOX news saying, I'd be disgusted, and these people spew their bile in a very public forum. Then when someone takes their nonsense and runs with it, goes out and pulls a trigger, they try to distance themselves from their own rhetoric. We've had two killings by right-leaning domestic terrorists and one by a Muslim domestic terrorist in less than a month. I'm seeing "justifiable" murder weaving it's way through waay too many news stories lately, and I think there's a correlation.
What scares me most of all is the amount of hate-inducing speech I'm hearing from the right about our President. He's un-American, they say. He's socialist. He's a secret Muslim. He was born in Kenya. He's making us less safe. While people make these factually untrue, scary, hateful comments, other people--not mainstream Republicans, certainly, but people who lurk with Roeder and von Brunn in the dark corners of the internet--are listening. What's keeping one of them from believing it? What's keeping one of them from saying, "Well, gee, if he's really all these things, if he's really hurting the country that I love, maybe I should do something about it. Maybe I should pull another trigger on another day"?
Someone with some pollitical clout in the right needs to stand up to the fringe people who are speaking for all Republicans when their views are anything but mainstream, for the good of the Republican party and our country. They need to start debating ideas and policy again instead of calling names and using these us-or-them scare tactics for the good of all of us.
And yet another Grimm's fairy tale from teacherlady.
Here's a big thumbs up TeacherLady . . you give me hope that reason still has a chance.
I keep hearing the tired old rhetoric about how more people have been killed in the name of Christianity than for any other reason. I'd like to know two things: who originally made UP that lie and why are people continually perpetuating it?
HannahBelle . . .How on Earth do you consider Fox News/Hannity/Linbaugh "the truth"? It is the most biased news out there!!!!!
Looks like our local kool aid drinkers are out in force today! All anyone has to do to realize that Fox is not the prime purveyor of bs is to watch them. Anyone who actually listens to Fox will realize that there is not a bias in the news reporting. Obviously a conservative commentator will provide a conservative slant.
Now put on CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC or MSNBC and all the reporters are political commentators--liberal commentators. People such as Teacherlady just don't realize the propaganda that they are being fed. It is very simple to recognize the truly slanted reporting by these liberal news outlets. Just listen to any story and then the words they add to get their spin across.
Fox news reports the news, in a balanced way. Fox's political commentators tend to provide opinions with a conservative slant. CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC and MSNBC reports the news in a liberal slanted fashion and their political commentators all spin stories with a liberal slant.
If you don't believe me, test it. You will see the liberal bias on everything on the other networks.
Personally, I watch FoxNews, and I like Hannity, Glen Beck and Bill Oreilly. I also watch CNN, and, rarely, MSNBC. There's bias in every news channel...every single one. What I tend to do is watch FoxNews, and it's biased reports, then watch CNN, and their bias on the same news story. I take a measurement of both sides, and figure the "truth" is somewhere right in the middle. For my money....MSNBC is so far out on the left, it's too radical to even consider.
Glen Beck who was formerly with CNN is an excellent example of an unbiased news reporter at Fox News. He's neither Republican nor Democrat. He's for whatever he thinks is right for America.
And to Pops, excellent observation. Fox News isn't completely unbiased, but IMHO, far outweighs the other news networks.
I just feel it's wise to understand that most, if not all, our news outlets are "biased", one way or another. I cna't STAND watching MSNBC....they're WAY out there, but CNN, while left-leaning, sorta balances out FoxNews, which is right-leaning. I think I've found that to draw a line down the middle, you'll find the truth tucked in there in between the two. Still...that's just me, personally. I don't intend to anger those of you who feel MSNBC is the gospel truth....I'm just saying that I don't accept one outlet without question. I try to use my brain for more than just something to keep my ears separated...and I feel that I've found a realistic way to do that.
Watch the BBC network or check out their website for unbiased US News.
In my opinion, there IS no such thing as "unbiased news".
Teacherlady you seriously mis-speak re the objections to the President. Please discard the rhetoric. There is nothing "hate inducing" or "scary" or any of the other terms you are so quick to use, when one simply totally disagrees with what the man is doing.
Yesterday, I heard he was requiring our people on the front line to read terrorists "their rights". Now I have a bunch of problems with that, beginning with the safety of our folks doing such things, under those circumstances. And, I could go on, but it has nothing to do with "hate".
I am outraged at the unbelievable "bounties" being offered and paid to take people away from Gitmo. In my humble opinin, the Gitmo thing has been political from the beginning to make Bush look bad....and now they are putting millions of dollars on the table so Obama can "keep his word". I guess I hate seeing the money squandered but I'm not sure that is what you meant by "hate".
I don't like the direction of the Country. He is giving millions of dollars to Unions.....just because they gave his campaign millions of dollars. Quid pro quo. I guess I don't like seeing that money going out the door...."Yep", I hate seeing it. Is that what you meant.
There are several bills in congress pending to dismantle the 2nd ammendmente. Yep, I hate that too. More hate, right.
And, I really don't like him going around the world "admitting to all of the shortcommings of the US." I totally disagree with his conclusions and I guess I wonder why he hates the United States and everything it has done so well for 240 years. I'm not big on apologizing for being the most generous country in history. I'm not big on apologizing for the FACT that we have protected the rights of individuals all over the world. And, I'm not too big on apologizing for spewing billions of dollas of aid whenever anyone on this earth needs help....and so far no one has said "thanks'.
There is nothing hateful or scary about observing what Obama says and does and then disagree with it.
I am scared stiff that he will get to do some of what he wants to do to our health system or our education system. In addition to screwing them up, he will further bankrupt our society. Is that hateful....get a life.
Quit the name calling and let Obama take the heat for what he is doing. It is not good for this country.
Do you need more
If you seriously beleive that Rush limbaugh is wrong and that person was a product of the right instead you would have to thing that
left =Stalin
Right = Hitler
Again you are wrong, this person was a crazy maniac that wanted higher government intervention in certian race's lives ...higher government intervention yeah that sounds like a right kind of idea.
