CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — Three people were injured Sunday morning in a Livingston County wreck, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.
The driver of one vehicle, 52-year-old Martha L. Rose of Kirksville, was taken by Lifeflight air ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City for treatment of serious injuries. Ms. Rose was listed in fair condition Sunday night, a hospital spokeswoman said.
A passenger, 55-year-old Steven D. Reschly, also of Kirksville, was seriously injured. He was taken by Lifeflight air ambulance to St. Luke’s, where the spokeswoman said he was listed in fair condition later Sunday.
The driver of a second vehicle, Pamela E. Adamson, 60, of Mooresville, Mo., had moderate injuries. She was taken to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, where a nursing supervisor said she was treated and transferred to another facility.
The patrol’s report said the crash happened at 11 a.m. on U.S. Highway 36, three miles east of Chillicothe.
A 1993 Mercury van driven by Ms. Rose and a 1994 GMC driven by Ms. Adamson were both headed east on the highway. Ms. Rose’s vehicle ran into the rear of Ms. Adamson’s vehicle in the eastbound driving lane, causing Ms. Adamson’s vehicle to skid off the west side of the road.
Ms. Rose’s van also drove off the west side and caught fire.
All occupants wore seat belts, the patrol’s report added.
