A bit drastic
I was just calling about the smoking ban in Wathena. They've raised everything else and stopped us from doing everything. I just wanted to comment that now is not a good time to be doing that. We'll have a lot of suicides.
It's dead
Here we go again. I see that we're going to do another TIF. I thought we thew out a mayor and City Council so we wouldn't have to have TIFs anymore. And not only that, they're TIFing that dead - and not only dead but bones-have-rotted-away - Downtown again. Please let Downtown die and stop giving away our tax base.
Why not Bush?
I've got a question that's war-related. In World War II you had them Nazis and Germans that did war crimes, especially the Nazis. They were ordered to do it, but they were still charged with war crimes. And they're still after them today. According to the American people, President Bush had POW camps like Guantanamo Bay where prisoners were beaten trying to get, I guess, some information. If you're going to take the Russians and the Nazis and accuse them of war crimes and still yet chase them today, then how come President Bush is not arrested for his war crimes?
Editor's note: Some human rights groups have called for President Bush to be charged with war crimes, but an Associated Press report says the chances of that happening are extremely remote. The United States does not recognize the International Court in The Hague and would be able to veto any attempt to pursue war crimes through the U.N. Security Council.
Right to smoke
I just got to reading in the St. Joseph newspaper today, your online poll. Fifty-nine percent of the people who answered online supported a smoking ban in Kansas and Missouri. All I really wanted to ask is why? This is a slippery slope. We have a right to smoke.
Not so lofty
Can't we go through at least one week without people talking about the Mitchell Park Plaza lofts? That's like beating a dead horse into the ground. If you're really impressed by it then why don't you check into it? Find out what you have to have to live - their the income guidelines, the credit guidelines. That place should have been packed a long time ago. I know why people won't live there. Because most people don't fit that so-called "criteria."
