Adopt-A-Family prepares for another season

AFL-CIO Community Services is preparing for the annual Adopt-A-Family Christmas program. The organization will take applications from those families in need beginning on Nov. 12, continuing through Dec. 18.

Applications will be accepted Monday through Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m., and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Applications will not be taken Nov. 26 and 27.

Applications will be accepted at the Community Services building, 1203 N. Sixth St. Applicants must bring the following information:

- Social Security cards for each member of the household

- Proof of all income (TANF, Child Support, SSI, Social Security, pensions, earned wages, etc.)

- Utility bills (electric, water, gas, phone, trash, etc.)

- All other expenses (food, credit cards, prescriptions, etc.)

- Rent or mortgage receipt showing your name and phone number

- Clothing and shoe sizes for every member of the household

- A list of preferred foods, clothing or household needs

- A wish list to Santa from each child (three items maximum)

- A $2 processing fee

Applicants should not bring children when applying. Those unable to apply in person due to a physical disability should call Community Services at 364-1131 by Dec. 18 to make other arrangements.

To adopt a family or make a donation, contact Community Services at 364-1131, fax 364-2304, or visit their office. Office hours are Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
