Crash injures Platte City woman

PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. - A Platte City, Mo., woman was seriously injured early Saturday when the vehicle she was driving struck a barrier off Interstate 29.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Jennifer L. Crook, 32, was taken to Liberty Hospital for treatment. A nursing supervisor said Ms. Crook was listed in stable condition Sunday afternoon.

A passenger, 45-year-old Donald S. Barngrover, also of Platte City, suffered minor injuries. He refused treatment at the scene, the patrol said.

The wreck happened at 1:47 a.m., on Interstate 29 - one mile south of 112th Street in Platte County.

Ms. Crook was driving a 2007 Ford north on I-29 when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road and struck a median barrier. The vehicle then overturned and landed on its top.

The patrol said an investigation is continuing, with charges pending. Ms. Crook did not wear a seat belt, the report added.
