CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - Law enforcement officers arrested a woman following an investigation of burglaries and theft of equipment from two local schools.
The state charged Gwendylan M. Shelton, 23, with two felony counts of first-degree burglary.
Mike Lewis, a Livingston County sheriff's deputy and school resource officer, filed a report about the Sept. 28 burglary and theft of a lap top computer and other equipment from an office at Field Elementary School in Chillicothe. Field School staff allegedly observed a female suspect in the school.
An incident took place at Central Elementary School on Tuesday and the Chillicothe Police Department arrested Ms. Shelton. Investigations by a detective located the stolen lap top and equipment in a Chillicothe residence.
Associate Circuit Court Judge James P. Valbracht arraigned the defendant Tuesday and set bond at $25,000.
Ms. Shelton remains in the Livingston County Jail and will appear on Oct. 28 for a preliminary hearing.
