Take-A-Seat Fundraiser to be held Oct. 16
by Sylvia Anderson
Monday, October 12, 2009

A polka-dot Halloween chair with witches’ feet, a tie-dyed chair with jean leggings and a Christmas chair with ornaments are just some of the expected 50-plus artist-decorated chairs and other items to be auctioned off at this year’s Take-A-Seat auction on Oct. 16.

The fundraiser, hosted by the Ladies Union Benevolent Association (LUBA), raises money for the Noyes Homes for Children in St. Joseph, a non-profit organization that provides a home for kids when parents are unable to care for them. They receive no government or United Way funding, says this year’s Take A Seat chairman Janet Steury, so this is an important fundraiser for the home.

You can sneak a peak at some of the chairs to be auctioned on display at East Hills Shopping Center near Dillards until Oct. 15. The auction begins at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 and will take place at the St. Francis Xavier Parish Center, 26th and Penn streets.

For more information, call Janet Steury at 364-4766
