Missouri Western State University is celebrating Homecoming 2009 this week. The theme is "Back in Time to '69," honoring the 40th anniversary of Western's designation as a four-year institution.

Wednesday - Scanlon Hall celebration, 3 p.m. Dr. Robert Vartabedian, president, and Dr. James Scanlon, former president, will unveil a portrait in Scanlon Hall.
Alumni Night at the Museum, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art. Missouri Western alumni will enjoy an evening of wine tasting and art appreciation. Registration is $10 per person.
Thursday - 27th annual Alumni Awards Banquet, 5:45 p.m., Fulkerson Center. Tickets are $30. Reservations are required.
Friday - Alumni Golf Outing, 9 a.m., Fairview Golf Course; cost is $55 per person, and each team must have at least one junior college or university alum. Pre-registration is required.
St. Joseph Junior College Celebration and Plaque Dedication, 2 p.m., 10th and Edmond streets. A plaque marking the former site of St. Joseph Junior College will be unveiled.
Junior College Celebration Tea, 2:45 p.m., YWCA Terrace Room, 304 N. Eighth St.
Saturday - Run to the Max III, a 5K benefit for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater St. Joseph and Nodaway Valley, sponsored by Performance Plus and Western athletics. Participants will line up at Volley's, just south of 36th and Faraon streets, beginning at 7:30 a.m., and the run includes the Downtown parade route. The cost is $20 per person if registered before Wednesday, or $30 at the time of the event.
Homecoming Parade, 9:30 a.m., Downtown St. Joseph, beginning at City Hall. The staging area will be on 36th Street, which will be closed from 6 to 9 a.m. between Faraon and Messanie streets.
Post-Parade Party, 10:30 a.m., Blum Student Union. Make plans to attend the first faculty/alumni reception following the parade, with children's craft activities and refreshments. The Barnes & Noble bookstore will be open.
Western Dining Services Tailgate, 11:30 a.m., Spratt Stadium near the Baker Fitness Center, $7 per person.
Griffon football versus the University of Central Missouri, 1:30 p.m., Spratt Stadium.

If you pre-register you may pick up your race packet on Friday from 4P to 7P
Late registration is from 6:30A to 7:15A at Volleys Parking Lot.
