Sabetha woman killed in crash

FAIRVIEW, Kan. - A Sabetha, Kan., woman died early Thursday in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 75 near the junction with U.S. Highway 36, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The patrol said a 2009 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Kenneth Callaway, 49, of Cummings, Kan., was southbound on U.S. Highway 75. A 1996 Dodge Stratus driven by Emma Light, 54, of Sabetha, was heading north.

The pickup went left of the center line and struck the car head-on in the northbound lane, the patrol said. Ms. Light was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the only occupant of the car.

Mr. Callaway was injured and taken to Sabetha Community Hospital.

A passenger in Mr. Callaway's vehicle, 40-year-old John Felix Jr. of Leavenworth, Kan., also was injured and taken to the Sabetha hospital. It's unknown if any of the occupants were wearing seat belts.
