An accident just after 10 a.m. Friday on Interstate 29 ended with one woman being taken into custody.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident involved a 2000 Ford Focus and a 2009 Freightliner on the southbound lanes of I-29 between Frederick Boulevard and Faraon Street.

The driver of the car walked away from the accident but was taken into custody by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The woman was later identified as 30-year-old Veronica Flores-Cuevas from Kansas City, Mo. She was charged with driving while intoxicated.

The patrol reported that Ms. Flores-Cuevas was heading north on I-29 when she lost control of the Ford, crossed the median and median cables, entered the southbound lanes and bounced off the guardrail into the semi.

The patrol identified the driver of the semi as 41-year-old Nathan A. Weise. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
