Annual harvest supper
Bethany Christian Church, 10 miles southeast of Stewartsville, Mo., will host its annual all-you-can-eat harvest supper from 5 to 8 p.m. today. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. There will also be a food sale, bazaar, kids' booth and quilt raffle. Everyone is welcome.
Fellowship dinner at Carnegie Baptist
With autumn comes the beginning of fellowship dinner at Carnegie Baptist Church, 6520 Carnegie St. Everyone is invited to attend Sunday school and worship service Sept. 27, beginning at 9:45 a.m. After worship, the fellowship dinner will be held in the church basement. Bring a covered dish.
Special service at Fresh Fire
Pastors Curtis and Ruthann Dunning will have a special service at 10 a.m. Sept. 27 at Fresh Fire Church. Former St. Joseph pastor Dallas Elder will be ministering at the service. He serves as the ministry director of Grace Covenant International and has had the privilege to take the life-changing message of Jesus around the world. Fresh Fire Church is located at 1109 S. Belt Highway in the upper level.

'Ignite' at First Baptist
First Baptist Church, 1225 Francis St., invites everyone to "IGNITE," a spiritual-awakening event that will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 27 through 30. There will be a barbecue dinner from 6 to 6:45 p.m., worship from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. and a message from 7:15 to 8 p.m. The speakers will be Chadd Pendergraft and Wes Parker. A gospel journey
Join Ebenezer-Grant AME Church, 2115 Felix St., for a gospel journey. The gospel guides will be Gospel Aires from Leavenworth, Kan., Storm of Life from Kansas, Gospel Tone of Harmony Second Generation and Genesis 8, both from St. Joseph. The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 4. For more information, please call 676-1957.
Guest speaker at Faith United
The guest speaker for the worship service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday at Faith United Church, 3025 Karnes Road, will be Tom Morey from Savannah, Mo. Sunday school is at 9 a.m. After the worship service, the board of stewards will hold its annual baked-potato bar in the church's fellowship hall. There will be a free-will offering. Church members will be participating or sponsoring others in the CROP Walk at Hyde Park at 2 p.m.
Also, the Mixers will sponsor a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 in the fellowship hall.
Harvest festival at St. Oswald's
Family and friends of St. Oswald's Episcopal Church, located in southeast Atchison County, return each fall for a special service called its harvest festival. The sanctuary is decorated with flowers and produce. This year's service will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4. Everyone is invited. Those choosing to stay for the potluck dinner after the service are asked to bring table service and a dish for the dinner. This year's special guest is Bishop Barry Howe, who will conduct the service.
St. Oswald's is 10 miles north of Mound City, Mo., on Route N and Keystone Drive.
St. Oswald's was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. In 1997, St. Oswald's became part of the Sacred Hills Regional Ministry, along with St. Mary's of Savannah, Mo., and St. Paul's of Maryville. The building was modeled after the founding families' home church, St. Oswald's in Grasmere, England.
Benedictines open teahouse to guests
Beginning in October, the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, Mo., will open their new teahouse.
On selected dates in October, November and December, the Benedictine Sisters will open their St. Paul's teahouse to guests. Established in 1929, St. Paul's was originally built as the chaplain's residence. Over the years, it has also served as living quarters for sisters and housing for guests.
Each day, there will be one seating for 15 to 17 people in one of three rooms appointed for tea and arranged with antique furnishings and specialty gifts. The menu will include sandwiches, scones, assorted pastries, coffee and tea. There is no set cost, but donations will be accepted.
Guests also are welcome to attend Day Hour with the Benedictine Sisters in the Adoration Chapel prior to lunch and tea. Guests should arrive by 11:45 a.m. if they have arranged to join the sisters for Day Hour prayer in the chapel. Lunch is served from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
