My goodness! Consider yourselves fortunate back there; in California the average gas price is currently over 90 cents per gallon higher than in Missouri. That makes a tremendous difference in how much gasoline is actually getting into your tank.
Some of the current energy buzz is a weak El Nino in the eastern Pacific, meaning historically frigid winters in the northeast and a resulting higher demand for home heating oil. Will this push energy prices up significantly? I don't think it's going to be too bad. Weak economy, crude oil staying below $80 per barrel for 6 more months, I'm thinking.

FDR's economic policies during the 1930s, which were actually an extension of Herbert Hoover's, did *not* help America. They greatly increased the size and scope of our federal government. You would have to look to Hoover's predecessor, Calvin Coolidge, as someone whose policies gave America more prosperity and freedom.
Nowhere does it say in the Bible that the world is 6,000 years old. There are a number of Fundamentalists who may have made such an assertion, but to do so is an improper interpretation of the Scriptures and doesn't take into account the oral teachings of the Church, known collectively as "sacred tradition."

Great points, Joe! I would add that Florida-based radio talk show host Todd Schnitt has compiled a total of 434 (and counting!) web links that thoroughly debunk the idea of man-made global warming. Check them all out at http://www.schnittshow.com/pages/globalw....

Coming to a newspaper headline near you: "Global Warming To Blame for Near-Record Cold Missouri Summer, Experts Say." Hey, someone has to kick off this discussion! Have a good weekend, everyone.

The way things are going under the current administration, I'd be happy beyond words with 2 1/2 years of President Sarah Palin! (Or Jim DeMint)
Please go back and re-read what "Twice as Nice" said; maybe he/she meant something differently, but to me, "I’ll get to vote against her twice when I vote against her in 2012" means voting more than once during the same election--in other words, ACORN's modus operandi. America into a Banana Republic.

To "Twice as Nice": Assuming you're legally registered to vote in 2012, you can certainly vote a second time against Palin. But you cannot vote against her twice in 2012; that's called stuffing the ballot box and I would have to angrily accuse you of being an ACORN hack! (Eric braces for avalanche of negative recommendations....)

A rebuttal to "Blame Game": While it is true that Bush should have used his veto pen much more, um, liberally, and put his foot down on wasteful federal spending, thanks to Obama, that "rat hole" you refer to has been made wide enough to easily navigate Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose through!
A projected annual budget deficit of $2 *trillion*??? The man cannot stop "stimulating" our economy into absolute ruin and the wholesale destruction of our national currency!

Orliandor, you need to let Sen. McCaskill know that you guys in St. Joe aren't just going to rubber-stamp her re-election until she does come there and clearly explains her position on this critical legislation. Do not let the environmental hypochondriacs, as I like to say, knee *cap* the economy *and trade* away our children's future! Which side is McCaskill going to take? The side of hard-working Missourians who are trying to feed their families and go from paycheck to paycheck? Or the side of California elitists like Speaker Pelosi who lectures us hoi-polloi on environmental protection while bullying our military into flying her from coast to coast in a big jet airplane on a minute's notice? (Is there a third side? :-) ) Just please hold McCaskill's feet to the fire for all our sakes!

This is a fantastic editorial, and I think there are a growing number of us out here in California who are finally becoming aware of the "law of diminishing returns" when it comes to environmental protection. But this is giving our elected officials the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their motives. Please remember Rahm Emanuel's "never let a good crisis go to waste" statement; he, President Obama, Al Gore and others are using the real need to be good environmental stewards as a convenient vehicle to advance their tyrannical socialist agenda.
"Cap and trade" is an economic declaration of war against the industrial Midwest. This native Missourian and current (discontented!) Californian implores all of you back there to fight back against this. Senator McCaskill could be a shoo-in for re-election if she loudly denounces this awful legislation and states in no uncertain terms why President Obama is dead wrong to advocate it. Second Great Depression, here we come if the Senate votes in favor of "cap and trade" and Obama signs it into law.
And the environment will be worse, not better off.

Those who have filed frivolous "ethics" complaints against Palin are a perfect zero for 15. A few speeches across the nation and she'll easily be able to take care of her legal bills. I look forward to her going full speed ahead in her efforts to rescue America from the tyranny and socialism of our current federal government.
