A very interesting article about a very interesting book. At least equally important as planning the funeral service: Leaving a document, easy to find, giving this pertinent info: Whether cremation and if so, what to do with the ashes; recommended attorney; inventory of assets and income; where to find the inventory and other valuable papers, such as will, declaration of trust, living will; portraits of yourself; listing of your most precious possessions, and where to find them---this should include valuable family pictures (which should be on CDs or DVDs); info as to house, yard and auto maintenance, and payment of bills.

Very interesting! Two questions are raised in my mind: Is it necessary to sit on the floor? (This is very difficult and stressful for some of we older persons). Is it necessary to be with others for effective meditation? (It seems like it might be easier to concentrate without having to be concerned about the presence of others).

Sylvia, Thanks for this very valuable information. I had no idea as to the hazards in disposing of CFL bulbs. In Kansas City, also, the most convenient place to dispose of bulbs appears to be the The Home Depot.

I see no reason for the governments of our planet to prepare the people for the end of the world. Nor do I see any reason for an individual to do anything different. The earth will disintegrate or be destroyed some day, and each person on the planet will die some day. Should we worry about our demise rather than enjoying each day?

Thanks for informing us about this, Sylvia. It sounds like a very interesting exhibit. I plan to see it tomorrow.

A great article! Reminds me of the time, many years ago, when I went door to door for two blocks in my neighborhood to make sure that everyone had a flag for display on the coming Memorial Day. I sold flags to those not having any. On Memorial Day, I called neighbors who did not have their flags showing. As I recall, all had them up but one. At a house where no one was home I took it upon myself to put up a flag on their porch.

I agree--the Elderhostel is a wonderful experience. My wife and I have attended them in Santa Fe, New Orleans and Charleston. First, pick out the city or area you want to visit, and then select the subjects you would like to learn more about. But you needn't take the classes too seriously, because you are not reequired to attend any. You meet interesting people from all over. And these are active people who seek more fun and excitement in their lives. It is a little bit like being on a cruise, because you sleep at the ame place each night. But it is much cheaper.
