Seems a little too late; if you visit any urgent care in st joe. Half our population seems to already have it.

We won't know for sure, as only the severe cases are sent to the state labs for testing, so in the meantime while it (the flu) is moving through our school system we don't know 100% if it is H1N1

Seems like we should hold our medical community to a higher standard and demand to know if our kids test positive for the flu is it seasonal or H1N1?

Schools are also only reporting confirmed cases of the flu, so if 6 kids are out only 2 get taken to the dr and only 1 relays the information that the child tested positive for the flu do they consider it a "case" So 1 in each classroom isn't bad, but it is really 6 kids!
WHY? are the school nurses not provided rapid test kits and require those students that test positive to stay home until they no longer have a fever? Wouldn't that seem more cost effective than every family needing to see a dr to be told "yes you have the flu, no we can't give you anything, but we are going to charge your insurance or Medicare for the test and appointment"

webster will be staying open. They are using it for the Rainbows program...
Did you know that Skaith is now going to be the most overcrowed school in the district. Did you know that one area of Skaith was so full of mold that they could not move a special ed class into that part of the building, but yet we have been allowing students and teachers to work in that room for who knows how long exposing them to mold.
DID you know that Deer Park Learning Center which is a PRESCHOOL is being closed due to poor building conditions, and guess where all the kids will go. INTO SKAITH! We now will have 3 classes of each grade level, plus we are to find room to house the preschool.
When my kids went to preschool I paid for them to go....
Why should our school have to take on those students?
Skaith will be losing its computer lab in order to make another classroom (which means our children lose another advantage), that won't even be large enough for the two classes they are trying to fit into it.
Our band will now have to use the library to practice because we have no other rooms avaliable for anything.
How will our students move through the lunch room? I guess kindergarten can eat at 9:30am
This is an outrage and something should be done about it.
I challange any reporter to look into this and report on the injustice that they want to call education!
This would be an issue if we had passed the levey.. Someone should have found a new building for the DPLC not shove them into our hallways!
You mentioned above the "sports" in elememtary. What a joke, if you are lucky enough to have some parents willing to take on a basketball team you might get a day a week to practice in a gym that has two hoops at each end. Unlike our priviate schools that have nice big open gyms with two hoops, a basket full of balls and a working score board.
And this is a leauge that isn't through the school. they just "let" us use the gym for practice

Great, So now we can all be broke and FAT!
Then this will lead to health care costs that can't be met.

AGIAN! Who is standing to make MONEY off this deal? What about the apartments that are getting finished up at the MEAD building?! If ST JOE is in such dire need for apartments then lets fill the ones that are already built.
How sad it will be when a neighborhood that cares for its children as a group will be ripped apart all because our CITY will not listen to the needs and wants of its citizens.
Money will win in the end, all so that Reece and Nichols can add more money into their pockets. Will St Joe see any of it? I doubt it, they will build this complex and the riff raff will move into a new building tear it up because they have no ownership no pride in what they have, and then they will move on to the next new development...
Wake up St Joe, we don't need more apartments we need a community that cares about values and family and the LONG term workers that nice housing will attract.

A lot of this bickering about the schools could be solved if people would spend 1 day in a school building. See what your kids are eating for lunch. See how crowded the rooms are that your child is trying to learn in. See how hard the custodians work because you can't teach your child at home to pick up after themselves. See how hard the secretaries work to keep your childs life straight, is it moms turn or dads turn to pick them up.
See what it is like to have children main streamed into the classroom and why a kindergartener can't understand why they can headbutt and pitch a fit but they are not supposed to act that way.
See what your child is doing, it all starts at home and continues by being involved in what they do.

It is easy to be a parent, but it is HARD work to be a GOOD parent.

So when these new apartments do not sell at "market rate" then what wil they do? The same thing that they did at Riverside and before you know it those NICE brand new apartments will be 80% sec 8 apartments. Riverside was also supposed to be "market rate" apartments.

If they can't fill up Riverside and the apartments at the end of Lenoard near Skaith are not full then WHY do we need to build more?

WOW, and so many of you can't understand why the residents near Skaith are fighting ANOTHER apartment complex. Shootings at a complex by a man that lives in a apartment.

And the people raising children say that they don't want to move out of the area,....

So who is going to be there to protect the TRAINED citizens from the angry people that come back with an attitude or a gun?
It is a nice idea to think that the world used to work like it did and people had respect for others but I can see this causing many more problems than solutions!
Why not let neighborhoods choose where they would place speed bumps?

Wow, once agian St Joe lets not take any responsiblity that maybe our kids turn out the way they are because it all starts at home! I don't think that one comment taken from a two hour meeting is going to scar the youth of america.

Do we really need more apartments in St Joe? According to whom? The two apartment complexes that have been built in the Skaith district in the last two years are still unable to keep their buildings full. Driving by other complexes I see the large banners reading UNITS AVALIABLE. Why is it we need these apartments?

Shouldn't the citizens be more concerened about who is getting rich from this project? Who is the investment group behind this? Would it be one of our real estate companies?

St Joe needs to stop and think about doing one project at a time and start looking at this city as a whole. Why is this the first time that it has occured to the city council that the SJSD should be part of the planning and zoning board? That would make too much sense to have all department working together. Fire, police, sewer, school, and chamber of commerce. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a plan before taking action, then maybe we wouldn't be facing over crowding at EVERY school. You don't want it in your district and we don't want it in ours. Lets put this development in the fantastic HEARTLAND HEALTH downtown campus, oh but wait that was promised housing that STILL hasn't happened.
