What's funny is most of the people they interviewed were not even from St. Joe!!

My son attends one of the passing schools, and they focus mainly on these tests from Kindergarten on. While I do not put any blame on the teachers, I don't care for the pressure that is put not only on the students, but also on the teachers for these children to do well. Also the kids who DO score well are rewarded while the the others are not, which I think is just wrong! (My son hasn't tested yet as he is too young so my gripe isn't that he didn't get rewarded) but I feel that this is somewhat degrading to the children who do not test well.

"It's interesting to note the school district keeps saying they are cutting positions. How many positions are being eliminated due to retirement or actual termination?" (posted by lamplighter)
Even if these are the positions they are cutting (by not filling jobs of retirees), the children will be the ones suffering. That is still 37 less teachers, counselors etc that will not be educating the kids in our city!

Heritage... It was a joke! I do agree with you on the jerk factor though!

I am sure that Rob meant nothing by it a few years ago, when he addressed members of the Black Caucas by calling them "you people" either. He needs to think before he speaks!
Sorry Steve-O, although I agree with you about the "freeloaders", I find it pretty hard to lump the children of this community in that category. They have a right to best education we can provide for them, therefore, I voted YES TWICE!!
On Voter turnout projected at 30 percent
I'll just be glad tomorrow when this is over. I have had about enough of the phone calls from Mr Negativity. Jeff Roe is an a** and Reeder is an even bigger one for being a puppet on a string! Those idiot phone calls themselves would've swayed me to vote yes, if I had not already made up my OWN mind on these issues!
ALREADY VOTED YES TWICE!!
On School levy's opposition was strong, but did it backfire?

Jeff Roe???? Seriously.......That answers a question about a push poll phone call I received from California last week...When I asked WHO they were affiliated with....they hung up on me!
Anyone who has been involved in any kind of politics in this area knows 1) Jeff Roe is nothing but a "dirty" mudslinging SOB who puts out deceitful ads/literature against whomever (or in this case whatever) his client's opposition happens to be. 2) There is NO way Mr. Reeder could alone afford to hire him! I have heard a wealthy man from St. Louis is funding this campaign, and has funded several other campaigns across the state against other public school issues. This man from St. Louis has obviously found a couple of poster boys in Ken Reeder and this man from Cameron!
I also agree with Mr. Holdenreid's comment on Mr. Reeder being so against the School District....Why is he no longer being called to substitute teach? Could it be because of an alleged incident that happened at Central High School?
