Ms. Wigton : you write your letter as if teachers perform extraordinary acts daily. Welcome to the life of any working parent. Although many parents are not as lucky as most teachers. A majority of working parents do not have the luxury of being available for their child before 5pm, nor are they able to spend the summer vacation with their children. Grocery shopping, ironing, laundry, cleaning and cooking are jobs that extend far into the evenings. Some children are not even able to participate in sports and extracurricular activities because parents are at work and unable to provide transportation. And I'll bet most working parents would love the opportunity to take additional classes during the summer months instead of working their 9 hour shift, 5 days per week, year-round job, that pays the same as the teacher. All working parents should be applauded for their exhausting days, not just teachers.

I'm not sure what the exact wording was on the Maine ballot, but if it had anything similar to the Calif. Prop 8 fiasco, I believe it was defeated primarily because of the additional verbiage included. Passage of the proposition would have allowed (forced) public schools to discuss gay marriages in classrooms - starting in kindergarten. As it is, San Francisco schools are showing videos produced by the LGTB groups with the goal of teaching "tolerance". Kids need to be left out of the gay marriage debate.

If managers don't pony up and learn Spanish, they will be left in the cold. It would benefit them to learn more than just a few greetings. Any savvy business owner and manager has already identified that the Spanish-speaking population is growing exponentially in our region, and in order to be successful, this is a market that must be tapped (like it or not). These immigrants are not learning english and aren't being forced to do so. It is in every person's best interest to be proactive and learn another language and research Hispanic culture.

The promotion of breastfeeding is long overdue. The benefits are too many to list and the cost savings is extremely significant, especially when the cost is shouldered by the tax payer. Breastfeeding also reduces the likeliness of obesity in children.
And yes, mamu, breastfeeding is possible for every child and mother.

this is an awesome program - thank you dr wolford!
Do your homework: The man didn't lie. People just didn't listen. He promised 'change'. He announced that taxpayers should pay their fair share. He said he'd take the troops out of Iraq (just failed to mention that he'd move them to Afghanistan). No, he never lied. And everything he talked about is coming to fruition.

I couldn't have said it better, heritage!
It IS a pity that we remain dependent on foreign oil. We should be able to (a) use our own oil or -preferably-(b) develop *new* hydrogen or other similar technology to run our cars. Electric-powered cars are an expensive fad. I fail to believe that the only brilliant, technology-geared minds are in foreign countries. Step up America! Work those brains and give us something palatable. Being slaves to OPEC is nonsense!

dalearch you are mistaken:
Controversial article = cancellation of home delivery subscriptions = fewer print readers = pay to read internet online = fewer readers = job loss
I refuse to pay money to read this "controversial" material and be fed a one-sided pov. I can get that cheaper (and more entertaining) watching cable news.
